Meet Nick

Meet Nick, an economics student at the University of New South Wales with a serious love for coffee. It started during the HSC with late nights, early mornings, and way too much instant coffee. This interest (and maybe addiction) grew stronger through uni and four years working at a coffee machine supplier warehouse.

He’d always wanted to build something in the coffee world, and one thing kept bugging him: why does an iced latte cost almost double when it’s literally just ice and milk? Every at-home option he tried tasted bitter, fake, or just... disappointing.

After months of experimenting, sampling, and a few pretty awful prototypes, Nick landed on flash brew technology; a method taking off in the specialty coffee scene. It keeps the bold flavour of espresso without the bitterness, and when freeze-dried then sealed individually, it locks in freshness by stopping oxidisation.

Over the past few months, with help from friends of course, Nick has run various community initiatives with on campus stalls, runclubs and UNSW societies. The feedback gathered was glowing, and has pushed Luna Brew to launch this December.
